It warms the cockles of my nerdy heart

I got the last few entries for the forum comp; they’re all rather impressive. I’ve managed to narrow it down to three contestants; now comes the hard part… I’ve got to cross reference some material and also check to make sure none of it is work stolen from somewhere else. This is probably one of the most time consuming parts of modding/judging a comp; we’ve got a pretty good rep on the web and it would totally destroy that if one of our winning entries were plagiarized.

Ok so I know I have to place my vote by 12am tomorrow, but Muldier PM’d me and set me on to this: Link

Can you believe it? An actual UFO? Well, technically speaking it’s not really inside our atmosphere so I guess it can’t actually be classified as “Flying”. It’s more orbiting than anything else; so maybe UOO? Lol I’m such a sad nerd sometimes, I’m well aware of the fact so no one needs to leave scathing replies.

All I can really add is that someone out there somewhere is probably going to lose his or her job after letting this leak out. I’m not running around suggesting “Alien’s R here now!” I’m just absolutely stumped as to how an inanimate object floating within the planets orbit is moving in the wrong direction!

Ok, ok. So it hasn’t been in the media yet. It could always be a hoax; this is the Internet, it wouldn’t be the first time. I’m still skeptical, people! You haven’t turned me yet!

But I’m keeping my eyes peeled for anything more on the subject.

Scans of planet from atmospheric orbit reveal the use of what appears to be a primitive satellite system, interception and analysis currently being run by ship. Planet seems to be trying to communicate – ship is also analysing the sound waves being bounced off outer casing. Life forms appear to have evolved, or colonised planet, post abandonment by the empire, intelligence level seems minimal, advancement, pre-space age. Colony seems unaware of the significance of their planets position in A2F7. Preliminary inference suggests colony presents no threat; presence of ship may cause inferior life forms alarm, ship will be required to remain in orbit, should further investigation prove necessary.

-excerpt from “Theoretical Procedures to Follow in the event of encountering an Alien Colony”-

Although the presence of aliens is theoretically possible, reputable researchers agree that the probability of their existence is somewhere in the range of a tenth of a percentage. This policy was written to cover that tenth of a percentage probability. Should the intrepid explorer encounter a race not our own, the first priority should be assessment from a safe position. After calculating the potential disruption an encounter could cause the evolution of the race, and evaluating the risk of contact to their race, as opposed to the needs of our own superior race, the explorer may make first contact. Ensuring that our superior technology does not dishearten or throw off the path of potential evolutionary paths will be vital, therefore, should a hypothetical race of aliens be discovered, it is forbidden to share or encourage advancement of their current technological state. Integration into their society is key, for this purpose, we propose the explorer use the holographic projector function built into each body suit manufactured by our sponsor, Mujk Sujt...

Scan of audiovisual satellite transmission complete, suit is now programmed to project image of CJ_Baywatch.jpg. Attire seems to conform to 34R1H standard mode of dress indicated in audiovisual satellite files.

Weekend at last!

Ah the weekend is finally here, work has been rough this past week. Lots of people who forgot their passwords; plus I’ve been doing the preliminary work for the new system overhaul. Talk about mess!

Anyway, this weekend I’m modding the Space/Time Effects Thesis Comp on the forum; it’s going to be close. The remaining nominees are looking promising, you can look at their initial entries here: Link

I know I’m supposed to be in a Space Time Continuum mood but Outtarhim sent me an awesome article on gene trash and how it could be linked back to the possibility of colonization from outer space. I’ve never really read a convincing article on the subject before; it still sounds pretty far fetched but it made some great points. There was even speculation that some of the dumped codes looked modified! That totally blows my mind; imagine the possibilities! I mean nothing as radical as Scientology, but wouldn’t it be weird to think after all these years of looking for the aliens from outer space and it turns out that we were them all along… am I making any sense here?

Gene trash in itself is fascinating, simply because of the possibilities it opens up. All it would take is the slightest mutation and suddenly an empty code becomes our ability to use the Force. Darth and Obi Wan could soon be amongst us.

Bah, either way it’s all pure speculation until someone can bring forwards some cold hard evidence.

Here’s the link to the article: Link

Read and tell me what you all think!

-excerpt from a paper on the seed colony 34R1H-

The seed colony 34R1H, established star date 327 MP, was originally founded by a committee of designated colonists chosen by the first Dfnar; note that this is the same approximate star date Dfnar took command of the Vlrt forces (Vlrjk, ‘Colonisation Records’ 654 MP). Although planet designated 34R1H was one of the smallest of the 3621 colonised by Dfnar, evidence suggests that despite the absence of useful minerals within its core, colony could potentially have been successful as a halfway station, due to its prime position in the A27F galaxy.

According to Hrykt (‘War, Blkt-Hyrj’ 602 MP) the eruption of Blkt-Hyrj war, during which the first Dfnar was challenged by the second Dfnar, took place on star date 329 MP. All but 3 of the 3621 seed colonies established by the first Dfnar were abandoned, and Hrjyt’s research suggests that colony 34R1H may have been the earliest to perish. The supplies provided to this small seed colony were scant, and when civil war broke out, this colony was quickly forgotten, and left to perish millions of light years from home. The statue erected to commemorate the loss of the many seed colonies established under the first Dfnars’ reign still stand in the Museum of Ancient History on Cthlkr, but like so many other aspects of our history, it is all but forgotten by the collective.

Colony 34R1H is a blue, white and green planet, not unlike Cthlkr, with one satellite rather than three. Planetary scans reveal life forms populate much of the crust of the planet, marking it as a class 3 planet. All forms of interaction with inhabitants of class 3 planets, satellites and/or stellar bodies are prohibited under section 23.467 of Cthlkr’n Interstellar Law.

-end excerpt-

...This research assistant cannot help but wonder if the life forms which inhabit colony 34R1H have similar genetic anomalies to those life forms discovered, and euthanized, on abandoned seed colony 72G1D on star date 052 OR.
